Creating templates

You can add a new template in many different ways.

Once you have added a template, you can execute it from any application by typing the associated abbreviation.

To add a new blank template

1.In the Home tab, click on New template

PhraseExpander creates a new empty template in the templates list

2.Enter the desired text into the contents, and use macros to perform more advanced actions

 

To create a template from selected text

1.Select the text you want to add

2.Do one of the following:

-Right-click on the Tray Icon and select New template from selected text

-Drag the selected text into the desired glossary or template list (works with PhraseExpander window open)

3.Make any changes in the Quick edit
The new template is added to the selected glossary/group

 

To add a template for the currently active application or folder

1.Right-click on the Tray Icon and select New template for current application

2.Make any changes in the Quick edit
The new template is added to the selected glossary/group

 

To add a template to launch a file or application

1.Do one of the following:

-Drag and drop the file or folder into the glossary or templates list (works with PhraseExpander window open)

-Click on New template and then on Automation > Run Application / Open folder

2.Make any changes in the Quick edit

The new template is added to the selected glossary/group

To add a template to open a website

3.Do one of the following:

-Drag and drop the URL from the browser into the glossary or templates list (works with PhraseExpander window open)

-Click on New template and then on Automation > Open Website

1.Make any changes in the Quick edit
The new template is added to the selected glossary/group

 

NOTE: templates can be quickly added by using keyboard shortcuts.
